About

I am rbo / Robert White, and this is my blog.

Although I was raised in the suburbs, I was born at Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC, and I’ve always been a city boy at heart. Family excursions throughout my childhood nurtured my love for the downtown peninsula, from Stanley Park to Science World; Granville Island to Canada Place; it’s difficult to prevent myself from loving it.

I studied Interaction Design at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, in Surrey, British Columbia (one of the venue cities for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games). Last summer I went on the trip of a lifetime with the ItaliaDesign field school to Italy for 6 weeks, living in Roma, Dolciano, Firenze, and Milano, with plenty of day trips to surrounding areas. Afterwards I did some solo travelling to Spain and France before returning home.. and boy was I happy to be back. The world is great, but I missed my city.

On that note, I also love to experience moments of joy, and I like to share those moments with complete strangers over the internet. I find that recording these moments through words enhances them in ways photos could never do – the imagination strengthens them, and creates a much deeper memory to enjoy again and again. Check out some of the entries from 2007 if you want to see what I mean.

So come along and see Vancouver through my eyes.
